Mick is a true design engineer with an intricate knowledge of tooling design and development. Beginning his career back in 1981, Mick has honed his skills from hands-on methods to expert use of CAD/CAM. With years of production engineering experience in tooling with key skills in grinding, turning, milling and boring, Mick then turned to technology to advance his career. By developing first from CNC Programmer and Operator through to a CAD/CAM programmer, Mick was able to bring fresh capabilities for the companies that he worked for. From 3D die milling, electrode manufacture Mick broadened his horizons from the plastic industry, to the exacting standards of the automotive sector. Now at NTR, Mick is heavily involved with many other sectors including nuclear, defence and transport. With his calm and logical approach, Mick is a great team player who handles tight deadlines and business critical orders with efficiency and excellent attention to detail. His management skills are very much leading by example and he is very well respected by the team.
Mick has a passion for skiing and travels the globe finding the best slopes. So far his favourite destination would have to be Norway, a country he fell in love with. His need for speed and the great outdoors doesn’t stop there. Like many of our engineers, Mick loves motorbikes, reconditioning classic cars and has built his own kit car. In Mick’s world if he can’t find the right part for a vehicle he’s working on, he simple makes a new one – a pretty handy skill to have. Although he started his working life training to be a motor mechanic, engineering has proved just as rewarding to Mick when it comes to cars and bikes.
